[S5E13] Stairway To Heaven ((LINK))
Izzie asks Melinda if she's had time to eat because she needs her strength. Izzie says she'll stay with Jackson. Melinda leaves and Izzie sees Denny again. Denny asks her if she believes in heaven. Izzie guesses so. Denny thought maybe this was heaven, getting to be with her. Now, he's not so sure. Maybe it's hell. He's here for her. She knows that by now. She chose Alex and she's sorry about that. Denny asks if it doesn't tell her anything that he's still here despite that. Denny says she can't pick Alex as he's here for her. He wants her to be happy, and he'd leave if he could. He doesn't want to stay here when she wants another man. He can't go because she won't listen to him. He's here for her. She asks what that means. He tells her to figure it out.
[S5E13] Stairway to Heaven
Richard is talking to a patient's wife. He says he needs her husband's organs. Kelly tells him to get out. Her husband was healthy two days ago, and he put his head through a windshield. And now she has to unplug him. He's her love. He's the person who's supposed to hold her hand when things go bad, but now he gets to go to heaven. She can't take anymore, so she asks Richard to go. No more cutting into her husband.
Richard tells Kelly her husband can't take his liver with him to heaven, or his bowels, or his kidneys. These organs are good because he was a young and healthy man. He knows it's not what she wants to be thinking about right now.
Izzie runs out into the ambulance bay as she gasps for air. Heaven or hell, she says. Denny's here for her. Izzie gets it. Denny says he loved her so much that when he got to come back for her, he thought she was his heaven. But maybe, he's her hell. Izzie says she's sick, and instead of telling her in order to save her life, he kept quiet. She yells that she hates him. Denny says he didn't know there was a chance. Medical miracles happen, she said so herself. Izzie tells Denny to leave. Denny says he can go now that she knows, but it's her choice. If he goes, he doesn't know if he can come back. She says she chooses heaven. She chooses life. She tells Denny to go. Denny really hopes this is heaven. She asks what he's waiting for. He kisses her one last time and disappears.
Wife: Go away. I'm sorry. Please go away. I can't take anymore. He was healthy. He was healthy two days ago. He's my love. And he put his head through a windshield, a-and I have to unplug him. He is the person who is supposed to hold my hand when things go bad. He is supposed to be her to help. But he gets to go to heaven. . and I can't take anymore. I can barely do this. So please ... go away. I don't want anyone cutting into him.
Richard: He can't take his liver with him to heaven. He can't take his bowels or his kidneys. His brain is gone, but those organs are probably good because he's a young man. And I know this is not what you want to think about, and it's more than anyone should ever have to think about. But he can't take his organs with him.
Denny: I can go now... because you know. But it's your choice. You get to choose. But, Iz, if I go... I don't know... I don't know if I can come back. If I go... in the choice between heaven and hell, I choose heaven.
Castiel goes to the Winchesters in their motel room and informs them of Anna's true intention. Dean can't believe Anna's "gone all Glenn Close" on them and Sam wonders if she's correct in believing that killing him is the only way to stop Lucifer. Castiel assures them it isn't the only way, but knows Anna won't give up until Sam is dead. He therefore decides they'll have to kill her first, and prepares a tracking spell to find her. He finds that since she knows he won't let her near Sam, she's time travelled back to 1978 to kill John and Mary Winchester before Sam can be conceived. Upon learning this, Sam and Dean immediately demand that Castiel transport them back to stop her. Castiel reminds them that time travel is very difficult even with the powers of heaven at his disposal, and he's currently cut off from that resource. Transporting all three of them will weaken him considerably. They insist that if there is a chance to save their parents and set everything right, they have to try. They pack their weapons and go.
"Despair" bid farewell to a character loved by millions. Castiel admitted he loved Dean and sacrificed himself to save him. "Inherit The Earth" saw Chuck defeated after beating the boys to near death and Jack as the new and improved almighty. And "Carry on" was just pure soul-crushing material. From Dean's speech and farewell to our beloved Bobby's return and the brother's reunion in heaven in their "Pilot" outfits, fans were a mess for days to come.
