What is the movie about?

The plot summary
The movie begins with Siddhartha's birth in Lumbini, Nepal, where he is prophesied to become either a great king or a great sage. He encounters an old man, a sick man, a dead man, and a monk, which are known as the four sights. He then practices extreme self-mortification with five other ascetics for six years, but realizes that this is also not the way to enlightenment. He reaches Bodh Gaya, where he sits under a fig tree, now known as the Bodhi tree, and vows not to get up until he attains enlightenment. He meditates for 49 days and faces various temptations and challenges from Mara, the lord of illusion. He overcomes them all and finally achieves nirvana, or liberation from suffering. He then becomes Buddha and delivers his first sermon in Sarnath, where he teaches the four noble truths and the eightfold path to his five former companions. He then travels around India and spreads his teachings to many people, including kings, nobles, outcasts, women, children, and animals. He also establishes a monastic order called Sangha for his followers. He dies at the age of 80 in Kushinagar, where he attains parinirvana, or final nirvana.
